Don’t find fault. Find a remedy – Henry Ford
Think for a moment about your favorite client—the one who always pays on time and takes your advice. Now think about your worst client. What’s the difference?
If you’re like most agency owners, your favorite clients just seem to understand the rules… and your worst clients always think they’re the “special snowflake.”
Life’s easier when your clients are happy… and when the projects you do for them are profitable for your agency. Accomplishing that is simple—but it’s not easy.
Use smarter Account Management to keep things running smoothly and to maximize Client Retention. Use consistent Project Management to deliver work profitably and on-time. And keep up with your bizdev pipeline by creating (or improving) your Sales Process.
In the last several years I’ve helped agencies:
- Identify $2 million in growth opportunities from existing client base, for a single agency
- Create an account management “playbook” to train teams and boost client retention
- Close more-profitable sales deals, by better-qualifying incoming sales leads
Want my help, too?
Let’s talk—I offer a free, confidential, no obligation Q&A call to see if we’re a match.
How does this work?
It starts when you fill out the contact form below. I’ll get back to you within two business days.
If things sound like a match, I’ll send you my confidential pre-intake survey and we’ll schedule a 45-minute exploratory call. I’ll have some followup questions for you, and I’ll answer your questions about my approach.
If we’re a fit, I’ll recommend the right approach. And if we’re not a fit, I’ll point you elsewhere.
What does it cost?
Most clients invest at least $10,000 annually. Engagements fall into three categories:
- $10,000 to $25,000 for Agency Roadmap consulting projects (2-4 months)
- $6,000+ for a custom State of Your Agency report and followup coaching (1-2 months)
- $1,500 to $2,500 per month for executive coaching (4+ months)
Most clients pay via credit card. I also accept PayPal, ACH bank draft, TransferWise, and checks. There’s a deposit and then ongoing installment payments.
Not in your budget? Schedule permitting, we can do a one-off call for $450 to $600 via Clarity.
Will Karl come to my office?
All of my coaching and most of my consulting work is remote. During larger Agency Roadmap projects, an on-site visit may make sense, especially when you have a large team in one location. If that’s the case, I’ll include that as an option as we scope your project.

LATEST BLOG POST for MANAGING CLIENTS
An agency owner recently asked: "Is there an optimal number of clients for an agency? I'm trying to determine if we need to eliminate some." According to his PM system, he had ~45 billable clients. Many of them were retainer clients, but a lot were one-off clients....read more
Karl has been a godsend for our agency. We hired him after realizing our operations could use some work—our goal was to create some internal processes, identify weak areas, and just generally improve how our agency runs. Karl has exceeded our expectations.
More than that though he’s become our “agency therapist”—we talk through our internal & client problems/issues with him, and he holds us accountable to actually following through on what we say we’ll do (and sometimes even drafts the tough emails for us).
He’s become an extended member of the Eighty-Eight team. I would recommend Karl to any agency owner who’s looking for an unbiased, expert third-party view on their agency.ERIN BURY
